I am a researcher and reenactor who participates in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) within the Kingdom of Meridies. I have a history in science and statistics and my approach to research often reflects that (the amount of spreadsheets I have is too high). I am generally interested in the transfer of knowledge and technology between empires, how changes to technology occurs over time, and how extenuating factors (such as the price of goods, the blocking of trade, or epidemics) impact the practices of an artisan. I am active in the Knowne World Courtesans, the scribal community, the bardic community, and the herald community. I have two active personas listed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The persona I am most active as is known as Soo Yun, a noble from the Silla kingdom born in 600s AD. As Soo Yun, I study the culture and history of the Korean peninsula. Particular interests include gender and sex, clothing over time, accessories over time, and interactions with surrounding empires.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

My other persona which is still in the works is known as Cornelia Vermeulen, a noblewoman living in 1470’s Flanders. She was taught by her father to be a painter and is registered with her local painter’s guild to reflect that. As Cornelia, I focus on illumination and painting, specifically in the art of Trompe L’oeil. Particular interests include painter’s technology, artist materials such as pigments and binders, and the change in art and art technology over time in Central Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
